What's Your Opinion on Rivian?


Wondering if anyone here on HN has strong views on Rivian. Tesla vs. Rivian, Amazon's stake/electric fleet, and just the company in general and its valuation. IIRC it isn't a remote friendly company, which I saw as a major con for SWE when I interviewed there awhile back. But I'm interested in hearing more about what people think of the company in general as an investment.

I am not sure that collecting opinions from internet is a good way of managing your investments.

If I tell you “Rivian good, Americans love big trucks that can also drive uphill” I don’t want to be responsible if Rivian fails like many other companies trying to sell and mass produce electric vehicles.

I don’t like the idea of gambling with my savings, but if I was forced I wouldn’t mind putting some money on them. Maybe they will release better vehicles in the future.

If I needed a truck, I would definitely buy a Rivian. It looks like it can actually be a good truck (as opposed to the Tesla), and also looks good.
