How is the Ukraine war being viewed within Russia?
Feels like the Iron Curtain is coming down once again, something you would have thought the information age would have retired. We in the west read the news... wondering if anyone in Russia can speak to how the invasion of Ukraine is being viewed on the "street"? Are there any scenes of rising unrest against Putin or is the "state" view still being believed?
Thousands of people have been arrested in daily protests, many celebrities, scientists and public figures have come out against the war.
There are plenty of independent Russian news sources that you can follow to give you a good take of what’s happening, https://meduza.io/en is a good one. Ironically, opposition news outlets like “Echo of Moscow” are being censored in the some parts of the West even as they were forced to shut their broadcasts in Russia. It really is an info blackout and all info coming out of Russia is being treated like propaganda.
All the news services in Russia are reporting falsehoods.
Half of the Russian population, especially the older generation, are all OK with the invasion. They all miss old Soviet union and truely see Ukraine as part of Russia. It is only the rest of the world that thinks Putin has gone mad.
