Can residents impact gas consumption in Europe

Question

Basically put if we all wore outdoor clothes inside and turned off our gas heating could north sea gas sustain us for a few months?I realise this is not possible everywhere but what percentage would it take. Ive googled some numbers but not confident i know enough to interpret them correctly.Incase its not obvious i am wondering if we can do something collectively to stop buying russian gas. Even for a month.

There are reports on youtube that one small candle with 2 clay pots can heat up to 20< m2 apartment for 4< hours or so (the temp in ~1m radius around the pots is ~70 Celsius after ~30 minutes). The drawback is that it consumes oxygen, but for this more oxygen producing plants can be placed indoors.
