Aren't Emojis in professional websites overkill?

When icons became part of the Web, it helped with readilbility and building muscle memory. One could easily navigate through an unforeseen workflow. They are pleasent to the eyes as well.

But Emojis which were meant to part of chat messages & tweets are making their way into professional websites. They do add the "informal" / "casual" look to the docs and in some cases help with readiblity... but most of the times they are out of context. Look really ugly on an otherwise well-crafted web page.

They are modern bullet points. They feel like a cheap weird invention that is being used for contexts they weren't designed for.

Not overkill. Inappropriate.
