Why does HN not have a dark mode?

It's been requested a number of times over the years:

There are browser extensions such as Dark Reader that will display any site in dark mode: https://darkreader.org

I hope they implement it as a user option that you can turn on/off anytime. Dark mode hurts my eyes. Every time I read large blocks of white text over a dark background, I usually end up having a double vision of the text and later a headache. I find warm light to be the best

Cause HN brings the daily dose of blue light every nerd eye needs. Hahhaha, jokes aside, I don't know. Stylus is a good tool to read on this kind of webs!
