What if AI is an existential threat to Google?
Gpt-3 type bots have read the entire internet and will be able to answer many/most queries more efficiently and directly than Google (maybe with a little bit of pre programmed prompting), and Google won't have a monopoly on them. Even assuming Google retains a good bit of market share, it’s an open question to what extent they’ll be able to get the same amount of ad revenue, it seems more likely that search will be commoditized (commoditize your complement). Thoughts?
How often is gpt3 retrained? While I agree the search engine has new competition, googlebot crawling the web and reindexing Google constantly is the remaining differentiator.
Another aspect where I know gpt3 underperforms is people search. Ask gpt3 about you and it will only reply with the most famous person that has your name.
