I notice the same thing happens with me for upvotes. For me, it seems that this occurs if I have had the HN page open for a while, thereby it’s maybe a session timeout issue I suppose.
I have reached out to hn@ycombinator.com (mods), however, they’ve been mostly unresponsive.
