How to Get Media Coverage?

We want to get some press coverage for the startup. I've been told there are numerous platforms like prowly. But it looks too advanced. Any tools which help with press releases and media contacts?

Ideally you would have connections with people in the media developed over a long period of time or know some people who do.

Barring that you need something really newsworthy. You should read or watch the news and keep track of the names of the bylines. Try to understand what those people think is newsworthy and give them what they need to produce their product.

You can cold pitch anyone with a byline once, so it had better be good.

Be "notorious". You could be on TV tomorrow if your murdered your cofounder.

Check out HARO https://www.helpareporter.com/

You basically check off areas of interest, and reporters looking for interview and content sources check off their applicable areas and write a brief description of what they're looking for. Those matches are sent out in regular digests throughout the day.

It depends on the audience you are targeting. If it is the audience on HN, here is a good way to do it: https://blog.arnica.io/hacking-hacker-news-for-fun-and-profi...
