What's you daily routine as a sysadmin?

I was a sysadmin for 15 years, 1997-2012. My routine was fairly simple

    1. Show up, and make sure the servers are still working
    2. Check email, see if there are any fires to put out
    3. Check Backups, make sure they worked
    4. Rounds of the office, make sure nobody has any smaller issues to clear up
    5. Work on other long term stuff, fix issues, etc.

Over time, 5 went from being a full time job, to almost zero work. Eventually they didn't need a full time sysadmin any more.
