Why didn't anything reasonably similar take the place of Flash?

Question

Normally when one thing fades out, another thing reasonably similar takes its place. Why is it that with Flash this never happened? Containerized animations, cross platform experiences, etc.

You had and to replace Flash to for embedding media. You had to be able to draw arbitrary stuff with another ECMAScript known as JavaScript.The Web replaced Flash.

Dunno-ask around in ten years, when Windows is still handing out mitigations for Flash Player. Yeah, sure-why not replace it with something more CVE-worthy?
