Is the Amazon outage a cyberattack?

Putting on my conspiracy robe, I was thinking the recent Facebook outage had more to it, and was essentially 'chaos engineering'[0]. Think of the outage as a sort of 'dry run' for when disaster happens, and documenting the impact and preventing future outages (like earth getting hit by a sun flare or a cosmic ray). AWS going down could very well have been a deliberate chaos engineering tactic?

Based on the various comments from various threads it does not appear to be. That is one of their oldest AZ's so I would lean towards automation that probably worked in all the other AZ's maybe stepped on some old technical-debt-landmines. Maybe they will post a post-mortem given the impact. Hopefully people go easy on whoever tripped over that bug/landmine.
