Do today's best TVs benefit from professional calibration?

When I bought my then state-of-the-art Pioneer Elite Kuro 1080p non-internet-connected (there was no such thing) 50" plasma in late 2007 — I paid $5,150 — it seemed logical to have it professionally calibrated and I did so, paying $350.

FWIW the TV still works perfectly, never having required service or maintenance; the picture is still as good as what I see on the best 2021 TVs on display at Best Buy, which is why I haven't replaced it.

14 years later, what with all leading-edge TVs loaded with features including self-calibration and built-in internet connections that automatically and silently update, does it make any sense to pay a significant premium for professional adjustment of "expert/advanced" settings?
