Have you experienced a (positive) drug-induced outlook while sober?

Some drugs change our perception, some more so than others (coffee, cannabis, LSD, etc).

The states/thought-patterns one can reliably find themselves in can be objectively better than the default. Maybe less anxious, more positive, more energetic, more empathetic, etc.

Being dependent on a chemical to achieve peak mental clarity isn’t ideal. Is it possible one could acquire these properties without the consumptive aspect?

Or is one doomed to think their potential remains untapped on the far side of a chemical input?

Why is chemical dependence bad? Countless people are highly dependent on caffeine for example.

I can see perhaps if it isn't managed and doses escalate out of control, that's when off target effects really take over. How about running out of the substance and needing to go through withdrawal (readaptation)?

Perhaps tolerance escalates too quickly and you lose the beneficial effects?

All of these things can be managed by coming up with a dosing plan to maintain concentrations in the therapeutic window, using easily obtainable substances, and cycling on and off of the compound to maintain the beneficial behavioral and psychological benefits.

Being dependent on a substance isn't ideal, but it also isn't the only way to use mind-altering substances.
