What is the best grandpa OS?
I have an elderly friend who seems to have a technological learning disability stretching back for 30 years. He's been in video since 3/4 tape and today can barely use a dvd player if the inputs are set correctly. Is there a kind of linux for elderly? We kind of degrade as we get older and he wants to watch his videos, listen to his music collection, and write some stories. What would you recommend?
My kids have a tablet. It is easier to setup it with a simplified environment than a PC.
I'd probably recommend Elementary OS. The only thing you'd really need to show him is how to install software through their app store, other than that it would be really nice for casual web browsing and media purposes.
ChromeOS kind of works for this, but if your friend can't manage their login password, they may end up in guest mode 100% like my MIL.
Pad or android tablet. Icon pressing for video selection from plex or vlc or like will be easier than any other choice.
My grandparents have managed to figure out an iPad. It has a lot fewer quirks than a typical computer.
