HACKER Q&A

Do you promote your hobby projects? Why?

Why do you do it and why should anyone do it? How would you approach it?

Personally, I have a hobby project dealing with some programming issues I experience.

I simply want it to generate more debate around those issues and hopefully get some serious feedback regarding it ('have you tried X instead?' is not a very good feedback when every comment is like that, imo). However, it is proving to be a much harder quest than anticipated. It feels hard to do so without spamming.

So, what do you think about these topics? Thanks!

If your goal is to get specific answers and advice I’d say go to forums.

For instance I have a hobby that involves inkjet printing and discovered after a while that the ink my printer uses fades quickly in light. I am within sight of buying more ink and wondering if I want a new printer (what kind?) or try third party ink, etc.

I went to dpreview.com and got the answer I needed in 4 hours.
