How do you get your kids into computing?

I have an 8 yr old who's keen on tinkering with computers but doesn't know where to start. He enjoys reading, so any books on programming or general computing would be good but didn't engage with Scratch for gaming. Have a feeling he'd favour adult books over ones for kids.Tangential question; how do you factor computer learning time with screen time restrictions.

Get them to watch the 1995 movie Hackers, and see what they've taken away from it. I know it inspired me to buy a bunch of coding/compsci books after that scene where they brag about the books they've read.
