Best way to ask for donations for open source projects?

I've been using a Firefox extension called "Dark Reader" and I decided to make a donation to keep the project alive. They ask me to do it on opencollective.com, which made me wonder what other similar websites are out there and which one is the best place to ask for donations (best in your experience).
