The OpenLDAP server and all it's utilities start with slap* - why is that? Why add insult to injury when the complexity of LDAP alone is already a slap in the face?

Ask and you shall receive [1] If you are having challenges with OpenLDAP you may find some useful articles on ServerFault [2] LDAP schemas and implementations can get complex in some organizations. I've been lucky to mostly inherit the simpler schemas.
