Wouldn't federated social network mean disinformation and lawlessness?
I've often thought about how to make decentralized or federated social networks... But I desperately hate the spread of disinformation on social networks, and I fear making a tool that makes it easy to spread illegal content.
What are your thoughts, HN? Should we make the decentralized social network, or would it cause more harm than good?
Decentralized networks mean more freedom, more speech, and more expression (which are human rights), and I think we should optimize for that over any fears of misuse.
There's already disinformation and lawlessness on centralized networks.
What are you going to do when people remember that they don't need the internet and can just gather in their own homes and have conversations nobody can legally monitor without a warrant?
