Problems running apps in the background on Apple macOS

Hello all. I am working on a hobby project (for now) for a desktop application on Apple MacOS and have difficulty having the application run in the background.

Is there something I am missing? Zoom and other Mac desktop apps seem to work in the background.

There’s not enough data to help you. What does “difficulty having the application run in the background” mean? Does it crash, does it slow down, does it freeze, does the connection drop? What language are you using? Are you accessing system APIs?

HN is not the right forum to debug an app. Try one of the Stack Exchange websites[1] and be specific about your issue, what you’re doing, and what you’ve tried so far. Making a useful problem report is imperative to getting good help.

Good luck.

The questioner seems to be saying when the foreground focus on the application they are working on is placed on another application such that their application is now in the background they do not see their application continue to perform as well as they expect it to. Maybe the place to look in the official documentation is indexed under process, process priority control, idle, wait, run, etc.
