Whose using web based development environments?

I've seen setups like:

* https://github.com/features/codespaces * https://aws.amazon.com/cloud9/ * https://coder.com/ * https://okteto.com/

and I can't help but wonder whose using these? and what their experiences are like?

Personally, I have a very difficult time seeing how these tools are not extremely frustrating for the developers using them. Still, I keep seeing them pop up and wonder if there's something I'm fundamentally missing?

Google's in-house editor, Monaco from Microsoft, Jupyter notebooks, etc. are all browser-embedded text editors. I believe the confusion you're experiencing is the same one felt by manual drivers when the automatic transmission took over.

Almost keep in mind that the click counter works perfectly in this case. We need a perfect online tool to keep tracing of it https://clickspeeder.com/click-counter/

Not sure about having it as the main driver but for the times when you're away from your setup, like when you quickly adjust something on an iPad or something; They seem useful

I often use repl.it or codesandbox to explore the seed of an idea but will soon switch over to local dev if I decide to work on it further.
