J&J, Moderna, Pfizer, or waiting on Novavax?
Through a tip from a friend, we found a place nearby that had been in the phase 1a period for a while, and had not done any vaccinations recently — no one in that group wanted them, at least not from that provider. So, they moved on to phase 1b, and we were able to quickly get an appointment with them.
A couple of days later, the whole vaccination process became much more centralized, and we would never have been able to get vaccinated as early as we did. But, they grandfathered everyone who’d already gotten their first shots, so we were okay.
We ended up with Moderna.
I could've have rejected it and asked for another one, but as a 30 year old I was okay with either Pfizer or Moderna.
The first one was ok, it only hurt a bit if I touched where they injected it. The second dose was worse. The next morning carrying my 1.5kg laptop on a backpack felt like 10 times heavier. Then headaches and a bit of fever. I woke like nothing happened the next morning.
J&J has the virtue of only taking one shot instead of two. So that probably is the one I would have preferred anyway, because getting shot is, um, not my favorite activity.
I didn't feel anything on the first dose, second dose gave me insane dreams and night sweats.
I was looking for vaccine madly to be opened up for my age group in India, I had to go with the first available option which is CovieShield.
Neither Moderna nor Pfizer were available and AZ seemed a better choice than Sputnik or any other available vaccine at the time.
