Are you spending more time on Twitter than HN?
No. I stopped actively using Twitter a few years ago. HN provides a higher level of discourse and posting and replying on HN is not part of someones branding and promotion strategy. Even as I attempted to refine who I was following on Twitter, I still found most tweets to be reactionary, provocative and lacking in substance.
Twitter started giving me that empty, robotic, "algorithmic feed" feeling a month or two ago, so I un-followed everyone and removed the app from my phone and logged out all sessions via the web.
I've mostly replaced my online reading/discovery with HN, since I now have zero social media, and by reading HN and a couple of big-name online newspapers, I don't feel that I'm "missing out" on online news (a common feeling after deleting all social media).
I can't say that I use twitter more, maybe I don't know how to use it or curate who I subscribe to. There's definitely people, specially here on HN who regularly claim it's great once you subscribe to the right people and tags, but to me it seems I'm constantly fighting the algorithms since they show me stuff I don't wanna see.
I stopped all social media distraction some month ago the only one left is HN and YouTube (only subscribed to interresting youtuber that I find in HN)
Has anyone found Tweetdeck to be helpful?
