Lot of talk about how the market is super hot right now for programmers with experience, was hoping we could share numbers and experiences with each other to get an accurate view of things, whether it's worth putting in the effort to find another job (for me, relearning algorithms).
So I make 145k a year, no equity, I'm the only developer in a small company that has has a software product. Live in a tax-free state in the US, not micromanaged, can take off for a couple hours in the day if I want to. Probably do 30 hours of dedicated work a week. Have ~7 years of experience, manage everything, backend, frontend, servers, etc.
Started looking to see what was out there, mostly disappointment. I haven't seemed to attract nearly the interest everyone else I see talking about. Screened out of most roles I actively applied to. Have gotten only a handful of recruiters, mostly third party mostly dead end. Will start interviewing following one of those with better looking pay, but still not ideal. I'll probably accept if I get an offer, just for the pay raise, but I really don't want to continue my career in that direction, but realistically its the only option.
I'm pretty much in the same situation as you, except I make $165k/year and I'm one of 4 engineers. Same working environment/flexibility. I have about 12 years of experience.
