Best tools/practices for machine learning productivity?

I've just realized that I'm spending a lot of time doing the same tasks over and over again in a non-procedural manner, not really gathering a large collection of insights because just doing stuff ephemerally in notebooks is fast and forgettable. What are the best tools and approaches out there that have made you significantly more productive?

I asked a similar question last week looking for tips on how to use Anki to organize knowledge.One of the people commenting pointed me at the obsidian.md app. I like the idea; I just want to get the sync to github worked out.
