Hacker News on Mobile – collapsing/expanding threads freezes browser tab

On Android, Chrome my browser tab freezes for ages when I try to expand a huge thread of collapsed comments.

Try collapsing, then expanding a comment on this submission -> https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28203948

It freezes the tab, and blocks and UI action, also seems to be related to the number of comments too.

Does anyone else experience this on mobile? I swear it didn't do this a few years ago...
