Is there a real alternative to Android/iOS?

Hello everyone, I am wondering if there is a reliable alternative to Android or iOS. I would like to improve my privacy and share less data with 3rd parties.

I was thinking about buying a KaiOS phone, but it seems that the performance are very low and the platform seems to have lot of limitations.

What do you guys suggest?

Saw CalxyOs recently, it is build on top of Android but is unbundled from Google. And fakes Google play services so you can actually use apps.

Haven't tried it personally and it only works on pixel devices but looks cool

Is Apple still going ahead with this plan? Even after all the backlash? Can rooted iphones stop the image scanning process?

I heard e/OS is deGoogled Android. That might be a good starting point if you still want a lot of compatibility. Of course you have to be careful with the permissions you give any apps you install.

How much data is shared by the phone/OS itself vs applications you install? maybe buy a Pixel, disable as much unwanted features as you can and DON'T install unnecessary apps?

Graphene is the one that seems most functional to me. Just remember that you will take a loss on features, or else everyone would do it.

LineageOS is another option https://lineageos.org/
