How can e-waste be addressed?

It seems as with many things, we have created a booming market without considering the full life-cycle of the products.

With the increasing rise of e-waste, how can we deal with it all?

I know some community groups refurbish and resell, but this doesn't really scale - not to mentioned devices become obsolete so quickly.

Is there any hope of this front?
