Best VPS provider for remote development?

I tried Digital Ocean so far, but in order to save some money I want to be able to disable the VM for a night for example. But with DO you need to 1) create a snapshot 2) destroy the droplet 3) recreate the droplet (and choose the configuration (num of cores, ram, etc)) when you need the VM again. Tedious. What do you use? Thanks.

I have run the HashBackup upgrade server for years on a $5/mo Linode VM, and also have a dirt-cheap testing VM on Vultr that has been very reliable.

The main thing I don't like about DO is when I tried them years ago, they used a zillion different 3rd-party web services for their site, making it hard to use with NoScript.

I run a VPS at Digital Ocean 24/7 for $10/mo, plus $2/mo for backups. How much cheaper do you want? Is your time hassling over a few dollars worth it?
