Resources to learn about automation systems?

My work requires working with different types of automation systems, mostly with building automation systems but also industrial. What are some good - and preferably free - resources to learn fundamentals as well as more advanced stuff?

Are there any specific topics you would like to learn? (e.g. PLC programming, Machine Vision, IoT, HMI development, ...)

Also is your goal to learn enough to get a job?
