I suspect there is a 3% chance a miracle could happen - that we could negotiate a new way of working.
I suspect my manager does not know I'm about to quit, even though they should, imo.
The ramp-up time is apparently pretty long here, either for me because I suck, or for this position/company because the job/department sucks -- I would guess a bit of both.
It's a combination of factors, but most gratingly for me, the training/onboarding program seems like more of a hazing ritual than any kind of training/onboarding. I'm a very thin-skinned/sensitive type, apparently, and I've never been able to shake it. And I've never really had any type of onboarding training -- tech jobs just seem to rely on you not being an idiot, and that's mostly worked for me. This position/department is just different, I believe.
For instance, I just tried to negotiate a delay in one of my training demos so I could practice more and try to nail it (I present to folks and try to demonstrate mastery of the product/etc.), and was told flat out 'No' -- with the reason(s) being along the lines of 'this is just how we do it' -- you try, you fail repeatedly, we move the goalposts, make it harder each time, until we finally give you the 'OK, you pass'. That doesn't fly with me - in part because that justification is not a valid justification, imo, and in part because i want to have the full criteria available so I can actually pass.
I have no illusion about the ability of the company to carry on without me, etc. -- this is purely looking out for my own self-interest. Interviewing is the worst.
