Is there an alternative Slack client?

I find the desktop Slack client crashes a lot and is a resource hog. Is there any alternative clients I can use that connect to the Slack network that are reasonably fast (doesn't have to have all the features of Slack).

Or I guess I could run the mobile app in an emulator?
