Why Aren't Satellites Hijacked?

Friends who work in the space industry explained to me how servicing and remote controlling satellites works (apparently communication protocols are neither encrypted not particularly secured). I wonder why it is then that satellites (which are expensive to build and launch) aren't hijacked all the time?

Encryption doesn't matter. Authorization does.

What financial benefit would come from hijacking a satellite? It would be difficult and expensive for both you and the satellite company. The result would be that you would have a risk of serious repercussions. You would get to know that you used your awesome skills for a pointless practical joke. You couldn't really tell anyone else.
