How can you learn project management skills?

As I reach the level of "Senior software engineer", I'm realizing that I'm lacking some critical skills. It's no longer enough to be good at writing, reading, debugging, and testing code. I'm expected to have project management skills too. It seems expected that you'll pick these things up over time, but I've spent my career avoiding them where possible. Being weak in these areas is a big source of stress for me now. I'm talking about things like, planning, prioritising, stakeholder engagement, decision making, estimating, and writing design docs.

Has anyone made a concerted effort to learn these skills? And how did you do it?

All of those imo are on-the-job type skills that you learn by doing. Ask to be involved in some aspect of the management of your next project. Project management has lots of task that are very easy to break off and assign to someone that wants to learn.
