How to get back into reading books?
Over the past year I have barely read a single book, most of my media consumption is on reddit or here now. I used to read quite often, probably on average two books a month but now I find it hard to focus on getting into the book and reading it until then end. Unfortunately for me my desire to read books is still strong and I am buying just as many books to add to my "to be read" pile as before, just without reading them! Has anyone experienced something similar to this and been able to pick the habit back up?
I find that when I’m returning to reading it helps to start with “page turners” or guilty pleasures (for me, mysteries and thrillers, but whatever you like) as opposed to jumping into something difficult. Once you’re back in the habit you can transition to more challenging work.
I am a man, but I sit down to go #1 and #2. My kindle sits on the bathtub in
front of the toilet. I get all my reading done on the toilet. Yes, I do
have to moisten the toilet paper after #2.
Block out time to do nothing but read, an hour a day. Turn everything off, don't make excuses. Just do it.
