How Safe Is AdGuard HTTPS Filtering?

Have been looking at Adguard as an OS wide adblocker but am concerned with my inability to accurately assess the safety of its HTTPS filtering feature as well as its relaying to an IP block in Russia. Does anyone with greater experience and networking know-how have an assessment here?

It doesn’t matter where it terminates. Filtering https is a BAD idea. Installing a root cert is a bad idea! I almost didn’t believe that they offered this but they sure do [1].

I think it’s incredibly irresponsible of them to do this, even if their intentions are good.

Please don't terminate your TLS, they have extensions for every major browser. With the extension + AdGuard DNS your coverage should be pretty good.

In Russia? Care to elaborate more?
