Avoid getting tied into useless work?

I understand having to do some grunt work sometimes. But is there any benefit to doing months of business logic specific work that is purely mappings, adjusting logic, etc?

I work at a bank and I've been doing it for a few months and feel like I'm stressed out without much to show. I assume my team/manager should recognize the big contribution, but I doubt.

Mostly just tons of back and forth with the BA about tweaking different transformation logic etc. Not much actual engineering or designing anything. How do you leverage the grunt work to do less of it?

I do way more than other similarly ranked people on my team.

Clearly, you don't feel your work is very enjoyable. You need to figure out what's in it for you. Path to a promotion? A raise? Something to put on your cv? Gratitude from colleagues? If there's nothing in it for you, then you are wasting your time and need to figure out how to improve your situation.

Only advice I can give is to seek our the work you want to do. That may mean moving jobs. Don't leave it too long or you'll have a hard time selling yourself in interviews
