Email Service

Is there a good alternate for gmail? Since everything requires 2FA and Google has no customer service if you get locked out?

I've recently started using protonmail myself. It's not (yet) my main email, but I haven't had any problems with it so far. The free tier has some limits, like on emails sent per day, size of inbox, number of email filters you can have, etc. If I were actually going to use it as my personal email I'd go for the paid tier, about 5 dollars a month I think.

Fastmail [1] is a great alternative to Gmail. I pointed a few domains at it for family members to use.

Protonmail. Emails are end-to-end encrypted at rest so sysadmins and others can’t access them. Fastmail is also a good provider, but you won’t get the same peace of mind as protonmail.

Buy a domain and use your own server or a hosting company's mail.

Not an alternate to Gmail but I use my own domain name for important mail. So I'm not tied (too much) to any provider.

At the moment I use gmail as I have 10 free gsuite business accounts...signed up before they started charging

Install Postfix on your server and use mutt as a client. It’s the only way to get email to work the way you want it to.
