Can you use logos of other products and companies on your website?

I'd like to create pages for certain products and companies for my pet-project and I would like to add their logos on the pages.

Some internet sleuthing tells me that doing so could result in cease-and-desists or potential litigation, however I'm not sure how ProductHunt & BitClout get away with this in that case?

Product Hunt lets you hunt products and submit whatever images/logos you'd like to.

BitClout seems to have created pages/accounts for companies with their logos on it without their consent: https://imgur.com/a/64IKVGU

What I'm trying to create is more like bitclout - I want to create pages for other companies that can be claimed

IANAL and you may want to read up on fair use. https://smallbusiness.chron.com/fair-use-logos-2152.html

My very pedestrian understanding is that as long as you aren't abusing the logo (trying to use it to show an affiliation, sell it, etc) then you're unlikely to get into trouble. It also helps if you have a form or contact page to let orgs request their logo be removed.

As far as Product Hunt goes, most of these young orgs probably are happy to get the press.

BTW - I'm more than happy to include a disclaimer clarifying my website isn't affiliated with the product whom the page is created for, on every page (like BitClout). I'm trying to get a confirmation for whether that would be enough
