It's a general problem with maps.

We like to joke about the bad roads in {Upstate} New York where frequently you see some routes that look passable on a paper or digital map but are not passable or barely passable when you try it.

Garmin maps and OSM show a road near here being passable which I rated as "barely passable"; Google shows a break in the road.

For years I drove to Manchester, NH from Rt 9 in Vermont via Rt 101 which is a notoriously dangerous road for steep slopes, twisting turns, local traffic, heavy traffic, etc. I never got the idea of taking 9 and 202 to Concord and then drive down 93 until my Garmin GPS said so. Although that adds quite a few miles it adds very little time and is a much easier drive.
