Are you a YouTuber? Or thinking about becoming one? Tell us more:-)

People on HN often recommend blogging, but I wonder if YouTube is the new blogging in some respects.

Do you have a YouTube channel? Or are you thinking about creating one? Or do you have a channel that you stopped updating?

If you have a YouTube channel:

- what made you create it?

- what do you talk about?

- is creating videos a periodic thing? Or something you do regularly?

- how easy (or difficult) has it been to gain an audience for your content?

(Feel free to post a link to your channel. Or leave out if prefer :-)

If you don't have a YouTube channel, but have been thinking about creating one:

- what would you like to talk about?

- what's holding you back from creating a channel? Any particularly fears or worries?

If you have a YouTube channel, but stopped updating it with new videos:

- what caused you to stop updating the channel? Boredom? No time? No audience? Rude posters?

I am not a YouTuber, but am thinking about creating a channel. I used to have a written blog on the topic of high-density residential housing. I have been thinking of resurrecting the blog as a YouTube channel. Given the niche aspect of the topic, I don't expect a large audience at all. However, I would be disappointed if the channel failed to attract some viewers interested in the topic.

One of the reasons I stopped my blog was because I had hardly any readers. At first, I believed I was writing for myself. I learned a deal about the topic of housing, and I improved my writing too. However, I realised I also wanted an audeince: not for fame or popularity - just to engage with readers and gain some feedback I wasn't writing absolute rubbish!

If I create a YouTube channel I will use my blog posts as a basis for the videos. I would not appear on camera as a "talking head", but use visuals in the video to illustrate a topic. I can't speak fluently spontaneously without multiple pauses, 'um' and 'erm' - instead I would use my blog posts as a kind of script.

Should I revive the blog (written word)? Or create a YouTube channel? Still undecided :-)

Interesting question. I guess I am "a youtuber", but what are you hoping to gather with this information?
