What's up with app reviews in Apple's app store?

Several folks tell me they have submitted reviews of an app I put in Apple's app store. But when I browse the app catalog, I don't see them. Even after a couple of weeks, which I would think is time enough for Apple to review the reviews. Can you explain how the process works? Why might these be withheld? Many thanks for any wisdom!
