What happened to xip.io and what would be suitable alternatives?

It seems like xip.io stopped existing without any announcements at least to me. The URL responds with ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED.Was there any announcements, and what would be good alternatives?

No announcement that I'm aware of, but I've used https://nip.io in a pinch before and haven't encountered any issues. Like xip.io, it supports IPv4 only and uses PowerDNS.

Xip.io is (was?) provided by Basecamp. In light of recent events, I suppose the person left.
