When I last blogged regularly, which was ~20 years ago, I just commented on things I found interesting, projects I worked on, whatever. I have a blog currently that I'm still working on, but haven't posted to.

I didn't care about analytics, SEO, reader engagement or anything. I probably didn't even have readers, or if I did, just one or two. And it was fine, because blogging was just a form of creative expression. Now no one even considers blogging as anything but a marketing strategy, and what now fills the role of blogs are social media feeds. I have no idea how to restart blogging, even though I want to, but I can throw minutiae down the Twitter hole all day.

I don't know what to tell you, other than to actually be interested in and care about what you write about. Your interests are more important than the interests of your readers. If you don't care, they're not going to care.

A lot of my ideas for from conversations with other developers and founders.

Listening to podcasts, reading, and thinking also bring me a lot of ideas. The most important thing in my mind is to have a backlog where you can keep ideas. It's not often that free time and inspiration come at the same time for me.

I haven't blogged in a while but what I like to do is to pick a topic that I worked on at work (or in my spare time), and dig deeper into it. It's good to consolidate your knowledge and it might help others.

I should work on my unfinished drafts.
