Why does Microsoft Photo take Giga bytes of memory?


I used the app occasionally but today it shocks me by taking more than 4GB of memory, and the only thing I did was to open a small image and leave the app running for maybe an hour.

I have a screenshot showing the memory usage (just in case no one believes), but I'm wondering why does it happen? Is there a way to programmingly determine the source of the issue? (Like reverse engineering or looking through some memory dump)

Not sure, but if I were troubleshooting this, I'd see if any interesting results come from watching it using Microsoft's SysInternals ProcMon & also Process Explorer.
