As an IT Consultant/Web Developer I am getting my contracts via recruitment agencies, which is not optimal.
I believe "Ask HN: Who is hiring?" thread is a clever and simple method to get a job or hire a hacker.
I like Gmail's UI/UX, so I've built a similar UI for latest HN jobs.
