Are NFTs as bad for the environment as people make them out to be?
I’ve heard mixed messages on just how bad NFTs are, regarding their carbon impact. I get that proof-of-work blockchains use a ton of energy. But, as someone who’s still learning about crypto — is minting an NFT on, say, the Ethereum network, really equivalent to a household’s annual carbon emissions? (Or whatever the apt comparison is.)
Please no rabbit holes on “NFTs are a scam”, etc - plenty of those conversations here already. Really just want to get clarity on the emissions question.
