How hard would it be to filter news with Twitter embeds?

I've noticed a trend over the years that most of the bad journalism, click bait and "articles" that are just designed to make people angry have a common thread...embedded tweets.

For example, an article will make some outrageous claim about "the Right" or "the Left" and cite a random tweet as proof of the views of an entire side of the isle.

I'm really starting to believe the moment mainstream news started referencing Twitter is the moment that everything truly started going off the rails in this country...and I'm wondering how easy it would be to fix it.

Is it possible to write a browser extension that could follow the links on your Facebook Timeline, Google search results, Twitter feed, Reddit, etc and just remove/hide anything that contained an embedded tweet?

You could use an extension like uBlock origin to write your own filter that removes embedded tweets from any and all sites, e.g. something like:

##.embed-twitter

badsite.com##.embed-twitter
