Where do you look for remote jobs?

For those of you who have searched for remote developer jobs recently, what sites do you check?

My assumption is that most people will check Indeed since they've got the most listings these days, and since they offer free listings, they tend to have a lot that aren't found elsewhere. But I want to check that assumption. Perhaps those who are already employed but just looking to see if something else is out there has different criteria. Maybe there are other sites you stick with because you figure the employers are better there. Or does anyone prefer to work with recruiters over applying to jobs directly? (That one's hard for me to understand myself, but you must be out there!)

PS: If you're curious about our opening or want to critique the posting, you can find it by searching 'AutoTempest' on Indeed.

I use https://www.workatastartup.com/ https://angel.co/jobs and set your search filters accordingly.

Like any jobs, your existing network will be best. Outside of that, I usually point people to https://github.com/lukasz-madon/awesome-remote-job which is a pretty good resource and should help you find what you are looking for.

I have never used Indeed in my life, but that may be more personal preference as I find job reqs there to be boring, underpaid, and not what I'm actually looking for.

I've put together a notification system that monitors jobs all over the most popular freelance and hiring platforms. It informs me when someone posts a relevant job request. I filter all the incoming info to get emails about those very rare, most relevant for me, and most lucrative jobs that I want. So the whole thing ends up sending 2-5 emails with job details. When I see something extremely relevant - I contact the person.

I'm actually thinking of creating a SaaS from it and looking for users to interview. Ping me :)

Often overlooked - Schools frequently have private job boards for alumni. Bonus, these are usually free/low cost.

There's an interesting Social Proof aspect to these job boards. As an applicant, if the Hiring Executive is a fellow alumnus -- he must be a good guy. :)

I’ve started to collect jobs from different sites over at https://news.python.sc/jobs/

This is still work in progress but does include tons of remote jobs.

I have had issues with the traditional job boards like indeed since they all filter by location, maybe they handle "remote" better now though? It can be hard to know if a job is truly remote, or "remote" as in "only come in the office once a week" which doesn't really work if you are on the other side of the country!

I have actually had my best luck right here on HN! The monthly jobs posts are great.
