HACKER Q&A
📣 andrei_says_

Is hidrb.com legit and how can I tell?

It’s a site offering to connect people with leftover COVID19 vaccines.

I did take a look and my alarms are going off, but can’t be 100% sure this is a scam.

Some friends already gladly signed up.

At signup the site collects a lot of personal information including phone number, age, and health conditions.

Pushes signees to promote the site to everyone on social media and via sms. (Starting to get traction on Twitter).

Privacy policy mentions that the provided information will be used for marketing.

There’s no (at this time) information about any affiliation with vaccine distributing entities of any kind.

The only contact information is via email.

No one knows of anyone who has been vaccinated through the site yet.

Does anybody know more about this project? Is it trustworthy?

What would help you decide in such a situation?

They appear to be: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/09/health/covid-vaccine-left... The lack of mainstream coverage was intentional (I guess they've decided it's time to go wide):

> Mr. Massoumi said he had taken several steps to ensure that the service will be equitable. That has included turning down early media requests from mainstream publications and instead promoting Dr. B on Zoom calls with representatives for groups like Black churches and Native American community groups, given that the pandemic has disproportionately affected nonwhite groups.

I'd feel much safer buying leftover COVID19 vaccines on the darknet to be brutally honest.
